Twin Baby Products

The twin girls cruising around in the sun in style with their Baby Trends Snap and Go.

When I first learned that I was expecting twins I thought I needed two of everything. The truth is that there are a lot of great products marketed specifically for twins, some products that you might want doubles of, and other things you can get away with only having one.

There were a few twin pregnancy products that I could not live without. Here is a list of my favorite products to also survive newborn twins.

Fisher-Price My Little Snugapuppy Swing

This swing was a life-saver! There are all 2 ways to swing, 6 speeds, and 16 different calming songs, but the most important thing for me was that it stopped the crying! My twins loved the mobile and would stare at themselves in the mirror. I loved that it didn’t play that annoying kid music that you will catch yourself humming at dinner. The only real negative is that it’s rather large and because of that, we only had one. If you have the space, I would get two.

Twin Baby Registry

Many of the items geared for twins is only available online. Consider creating an Amazon Baby Registry. Amazon carries just about everything, and if Amazon doesn’t carry the item you can still link to other sites under the same registry. They have great prices and many of their items ship for FREE! Your guests will appreciate that they don’t have to carry larger items that are too big to bring to the shower, and you’ll love getting gifts at your door! Since having twins I do almost all my shopping on Amazon. The convenience is unmatched.

Baby Bargains

This book was my registry bible.  Having to register for your first baby or babies, in the case of twins, can be extremely intimidating. This book outlines what you need, the best brands, and things to look out for.  It talks about everything from cribs and strollers to toys and clothes.  I recommend this book to all of my pregnant friends.

Twice Upon a Time: Twins Memory Book

If you haven’t learned yet, you’ll soon come to find that having twins is unique. So why not record their special moments in a memory book made specifically for the special bond between twins? I love the idea of having something unique for my twin girls that they can share together years down the road.

Twin Trexx 2 Twin Baby Carrier

This twin baby carrier is pretty unique. It allows you to be hands free while carrying both babies at the same time. The carrier can be worn several ways including two babies facing forward, one on front and one on the back, or even as two separate carriers. It’s a convenient idea when you don’t want to use a stroller.

Twin Z Pillow

The Twin Z is the only pillow you’ll ever need for twins. You can use it as a pregnancy pillow, a tandem nursing pillow, a bottle feeding pillow and baby positioner. I love the soft fabric and back support for nursing. It replaces the need to have different pillows for different jobs.

LOVE Twin Onesies

Twins are cute, and caring for twins is hard work, so why not enjoy the cuteness factor? It’s like a reward for double the feedings, double the diapers, double the tears. Check out these peas & carrots onesies too. They’re equally as cute!

Petunia Pickle Bottom Boxy Backpack

Twins come with a lot of stuff and you’re going to need a large enough diaper bag to hold double of everything. I LOVE my Petunia Pickle Bottom Backpack. It is large enough to hold everything I need to leave the house with two babies and everything they need. There are a ton of different stylish prints to choose from. It has a built-in changing pad that zips out so everything is at reach. My favorite feature is that it can be worn on the shoulder or as a backpack. I usually wear it as a backpack so my hands are free.

Graco Twin Pack ‘n Play

The Graco Twin Pack ‘n Play has two bassinets for sleeping newborns. Once babies outgrow the bassinet it can be converted to a traditional playpen that is large enough to contain two toddlers.

Medela Pump in Style Advanced

I pumped every 3 hours for a whole year, and I would not have been able to survive without my Medela Pump in Style. I got used to the Medela brand when using the super duper power pump from the hospital. I figured if it was good enough for the hospital then it was good enough for me. When looking for a pump the most important thing to consider is that it is a high power double electric pump.

Pumping Bra

If you’re considering pumping casually or full-time then you NEED a pumping bra. It will give you your hands back and change the whole experience.

Hands-Free Bottle Holder

These hands-free bottle holders are one of those products that I wish I had when my twins were small. One of my girls refused to hold her bottle until she was 13-months-old! Of course feeding babies is a bonding time, but it also is really time consuming. Sometimes there are moments when you need an extra hand. These bottle holders would have come in very handy to give you a few moments of help.

Baby Trend Double Snap-N-Go

Baby Trend Double Snap-N-Go allows you to wheel around your twins in their infant car seats. I did find this stroller a bit difficult to turn, but being able to cart around the babies without removing them from their car seats was priceless!

Arm’s Reach Co-sleeper Original

I wanted the twins to be in our room when they were newborns, but I didn’t want two bassinets. The Co-sleeper Original was the perfect size for two babies to sleep side by side. It hooks up to the side of the bed and allows you easy access to scoop up a baby in the middle of the night. As an added bonus, the Co-sleeper can also be used as a playpen when the babies are older.

Mommy Hook

In the beginning it might seem like you will never be able to go shopping again, but have faith, it can be done! The Mommy Hook allowed me to run to my favorite Target and leave puzzled at how I could have just spent $75, just like the good old days! The important thing was that I survived a shopping trip with newborn twins. I simply wheeled my girls around in their stroller and used the Mommy Hook to attach my reusable shopping bags to the stroller. Easy!

Air Purifier

An air purifier creates white noise in the background that all the baby books say is supposed to help babies sleep, and as a bonus it cleans the air! We use this for every nap and bedtime. Our babies are amazing sleepers. Coincidence? I think not!

Twin Shopping Cart Cover

I didn’t think I would be the type of mom to clean every surface that my kids touched, but when they got their first could from what I believe to be the shopping cart I bought a cover.  There aren’t that many shopping cart covers on the market dedicated to twins — trust me I looked!  This one is great because it fits in the double-wide shopping carts and also doubles as a single high chair cover.

Dad’s Guide to Raising Twins

Raising twins IS overwhelming for everyone. This book is dedicated to fathers. It gives some good advice on what to expect from twins and practical ways to survive. It’s written in a light-hearted way. It would make a perfect gift for the father-to-be.

Twin Milestone Cards

I loved documenting all of my girls’ firsts – the day they came home, their first bath, the first time they slept through the night. I love that you could place these cards with your twins and snap a quick photo. Having them twin specific makes it just that more special for the special milestones they share.

Baby Connect App for iPad / iPhone / Android

baby-connect-for-ipad

I saved the best for last. This downloadable app allows you to track everything you can possibly think of about your baby– feedings (both time and how much they ate), diapers, milestones, weight, height, and more. If you are committed to entering in the data (our babies were preemies so we sort of had to be) the app will even generate a bunch of nifty visual charts around their growth and feeding habits. The next time you visit your doctor, you’ll have a pretty exact answer when they ask how your baby has been doing.
