When I was a kid my mom had a Christmas sweater that had a scene of a fireplace, stockings, and a Christmas tree. There were real bells and miniature ornaments sewed onto it. I loved everything about that sweater. There was even a day when I borrowed it and wore it to school. At the time, I saw nothing wrong with it. Fashion was a little questionable in the early 90’s and that sweater was cool… Now, twenty years later, those same sweaters are back in style for a completely different reason — because we’ve all decided that they are UGLY (but in a cool way)!
It seems as though when it comes to holiday sweaters the rule of the game is the uglier, the better. Hartford, CT is getting in on the fun as the host of the Fourth-Annual Ugly Sweater Run on December 6th. The holiday-themed run that is known for being “the ugliest 5k on the planet” will be taking place at Bushnell Park at 11 am.

The Ugly Sweater Run is a great family-friendly event for people of all ages. It’s a jolly way to get out with the family and burn a few calories. The fun includes holiday music, hot chocolate aid stations (all you can drink, if you’re participating), photo stations, holiday inflatable decorations, and plenty of ugly sweaters! Registration includes a custom vintage knit hat to keep your head warm and toasty. For those 21 years and older, enjoy a free Angry Orchards Hard Cider or a Sam Adams Boston or Winter Lager.
