Love List January 2015

posted by yazmin

Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe that January is already over. I feel like there is always a big sigh of relief after the holidays are done. I’ve had a busy month dealing with the flu, a teething baby, potty training an impossible toddler, and showing our house for sale.

Love List January 2015

I’m already looking forward to February. We have Valentine’s Day around the corner. The days are beginning to get longer. The activity is also picking up on showing our house so I’m hopeful that we find a buyer in the next few weeks. I’ve also been planning Andrew’s first birthday party (how is he going to be one??) which is always exciting for me!

Here are a few of the things I loved in January:

Fixer Upper

Since we plan to move into our dream home soon, I can’t get enough home decor ideas. Fixer Upper is my latest HGTV obsession. It’s a husband and wife team who work together (he does the building, she does the design) to transform rundown “fixer uppers” into beautiful homes. I love their dynamic as a couple and I’m obsessed with her decorating style.

Taylor Swift 1989

I got Taylor Swift’s new album for Christmas. I’ve never been a huge fan of her’s in the past but I’m really enjoying this album. My girls are obsessed with Taylor Swift’s (or Swiss as she’s known in our house) songs Shake it Off and Blank Space — they exclaim from the backseat of the car “This is my favorite song!” and “This is my other favorite song!” I like that the songs are catchy enough to be cool but still PG enough that I can rock out to it with a carload of toddlers!

Sound Sleeper App

Andrew was teething this month, and as every mother knows, there were several sleepless nights. I tried everything I could think of to soothe him but nothing seemed to work better than cuddles from mom. My secret weapon was playing a white noise app from my cell phone. There are tons of free apps out there but this one seems to do the trick. As soon as he heard the hushing sound he stopped crying (at least momentarily). It really was a life saver.

Disney on Ice

We brought the girls to see Disney on Ice early in the month and they haven’t stopped talking about it. We had Uncle Daniel watch Andrew for a few hours while we got to spend some quality time with just the twins. It was their first show so I didn’t know what to expect, but they loved it! They’ve been talking about going to Disney World (thanks Disney Jr!) so we’ll see where our yearly vacation takes us.

 Camel Camel Camel

I’m sort of an Amazon junkie. I buy almost everything through Amazon Prime. So when my friend Kate told me about Camel Camel Camel I knew that I’d be hooked. The site scans Amazon for popular price drops. You can also track the prices on your favorite items. I love a great deal so of course I’d love this website.

How was your month? What were some of your favorite things?
