Disney on Ice Dream Big at the XL Center
Disclaimer: I was invited to attend and review Disney on Ice Dream Big. All opinions expressed are my own.
Disney on Ice presents Dream Big is stopping by the XL Center from January 12 -16, 2017. I got to take the whole family to the opening night of the show and I have the inside scoop. My whole family including my three kids (ages 5 and 2) loved the show. We just got back from a Disney World vacation so it was great to see our favorite characters again, but this time on ice!
Parking
I found the parking at the XL Center to be really convenient. We’ve seen plenty of shows throughout Connecticut and this was our smoothest parking situation. We parked in the Hartford 21 parking garage. The parking garage was connected directly to the XL Center which meant we didn’t even need to go outside to get to the theater. Cost for parking was $10. There are also plenty of other lots and metered parking in the same vicinity as the theater.
Merchandise
From the moment you enter the theater to the moment the lights go down for the opening act, you are inundated with Disney merchandise and food for sale. I like to make it a point to bring some special stuff of my own from home. Since we just returned from a trip to Disney I brought along our light-up wands and I had my girls wear their princess dresses. My kids didn’t care that they weren’t purchased at the show. All they knew was that they felt special, and I was able to save quite a bit of money by planning ahead.
TIP: Check out the dollar store before you go and grab some light-up wands and Disney toys to bring to the show – your wallet will thank you!
Dream Big is one of the newest Disney on Ice productions. It showcases 8 Disney princesses plus the beloved characters from Frozen as they travel through different adventures making dreams come true. The show begins with a visit from Tinkerbell and is narrated by Mickey and Minnie. There’s even a surprise visit from Goofy!
Aladdin
We traveled to a whole new world with Aladdin as he wished to become a prince to win over Princess Jasmine’s heart.
Snow White
We joined Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs
Beauty & The Beast
Lumiere asked us to be his guest as Belle fell in love with the Beast
Tangled
Rapunzel and Flynn Rider watched the night sky fill with light as they fell in love
The Little Mermaid
We went under the sea with Ariel
There was a brief intermission that gave everyone enough time for a potty break or to refuel on their snacks. My kids got a kick out of watching the Zamboni clean the ice.
The Princesses and the Frog
Tiana and Prince Naveen danced in New Orleans style
Sleeping Beauty
Aurura was rescued from an eternal sleep by her prince
Cinderella
Cinderella makes a brief appearance in her magic carriage and with Prince Charming
Frozen
Anna, Elsa, Olaf and Kristoff were the highlight of the night for the audience. They cheered and sang along with all of the beloved songs. The stage transformed into an ice palace complete with falling snow.
The show concludes with a giant celebration with all the cast members from the show. This is our third time seeing Disney on Ice and I have to say that Dream Big is my favorite show so far. There’s favorite music, beloved characters and great story lines.
If you’re interested in going to Disney on Ice while it’s in Connecticut there are still tickets. The show runs until January 16, 2017. There are still tickets available. You can purchase at ticketmaster or XL Center.
