Pogo stick, Bat Girl, and a baby pterodactyl – these are what are on the top of my kids’ Christmas lists this holiday season. My kids are 5 and 3 and the Christmas spirit is very much alive in them. When I told them that we were going to visit Santa at Santa HQ at the Danbury Fair Mall they all began to make him cards and create presents for him. I know that part of them wanted to solidify their status on the “good list” but mostly it was because they are true believers in the magic of Christmas.

I knew that I had to give them a magical Christmas memory. Santa HQ sponsored by HGTV is the perfect destination to create the ultimate Santa experience. It’s a fully interactive walk through Santa’s workshop and observatory mixed in with the tradition of sitting on Santa’s lap for a photo.

Santa HQ will be open seven days a week in center court.

The beauty of Santa HQ is that it mixes modern day technology with holiday traditions. Gone are the days of having to wait hours in line to see Santa. Now you can make online reservations and book your visit with Santa before you get there. It makes visiting Santa convenient for everyone during the busy holiday season. Of course, if you would rather be more spontaneous, walk-ins are always welcome.

Your first stop at Santa HQ will be to check in with one of Santa’s friendly elves who will take you to the digital Naughty or Nice O’Meter. The elf will enter your name and it will magically appear on either the naughty or nice list. Which list did you make this year? The kids got a kick out of seeing their names flash on the big screen. They keep talking about being put on the “nice list.”

Next check out Santa’s Workshop decorated with photos of your favorite HGTV personalities. Who knew Santa was BFFs with the Fixer Upper crew? Santa must be as obsessed with Chip and Jo as I am! Inside you will create your own holiday video with “Elfie Selfies.” You’ll see your own faces attached to elf faces dancing around in a music video. Enter in your email address and have the video sent to you for free!

Walk through a forest of twinkling trees into Santa’s observatory. Get behind the interactive controls of Santa’s sleigh and check the radar. My kids were able to press all the buttons and levers. Then download the Elf-Ray Vision app or borrow a tablet to experience the sights and sounds of Santa’s observatory where you can play games looking for hidden elves around the room.

Next was the grand finale with Saint Nick sitting on a modernized sleigh waiting to meet us. Santa took his time with my 3 little ones and called each of them by name. My girls were in awe and whispered all of their requests for presents this year. As we said goodbye to Santa he gave each child an activity book.

My kids loved going through Santa’s Workshop and meeting Santa. Santa HQ is a modern take on a Christmas tradition. We loved getting a head start on our yearly holiday tradition.
