We visited Lavender Pond Farm in Killingworth, CT on one of the hottest days of the summer. When we pulled in we were immediately met with the beauty of the farm. Rows of lavender stretched throughout. Even with the high heat (and 3 busy kids), I immediately felt a sense of calm. The moment we opened our doors we could smell the sweet aroma of lavender. We loved exploring and taking pictures around the farm.
Lavender Pond Farm was started in 2014. It’s a family farm with the mission “to make the world more beautiful.” There is a lovely story behind the inspiration for the Lavender Pond Farm on their website. I know for me and my family they’ve certainly accomplished making things a little more beautiful.
Lavender is in bloom from June through August. The farm is open to the public Wednesday – Friday 10 am – 6 pm, Saturday 10 am – 4 pm, Sunday 12 pm – 4 pm. Check their Facebook page for updates.
The farm welcomes guests on the property to admire the lavender, picnic by the pond and shop at the farm store. My kids loved visiting with the chickens and friendly farm dog. We walked the rows of lavender and stopped for some pictures.
I would consider the farm to be a family-friendly spot. There’s plenty of room to wheel around your stroller and walk around the grounds with the whole family as you admire the lavender. It would also make a perfect day date with your significant other.
TIP: Make sure to bring along plenty of sunscreen since the flowers are in the direct sunlight. Also be aware that the only restroom is a port-a-potty.
The farm is home to chickens, honey bees, and a super friendly dog named Flora. The farm welcomes dogs on leash to visit the property.
There is a lovely farm store that sells lavender scented soaps and lotions. You can also purchase lavender plants to start your own garden at home.
Adjacent to the farm store is the sweetest tree swing. It’s the perfect photo opportunity. We made sure to stop and take some photos of the girls.
In the back of the property sits a quiet pond. It’s the perfect spot to sit and relax. Bring your lunch and enjoy.
